My grandfather, Robert (Bob) Roth, flew with the 43rd. I have a picture of him in flight out the port side gunner opening, and another with his flight crew in front of the Flamin Mamie. I'll try to scan them and get it to the association. You are never forgotten.

Will someone please write me back that manages the website, so I know who to send the photos to? Thank you. - kmcguire@vcccd.edu or call me at 805-340-6525

Most Respectfully,
Ofc. Kevin Roth McGuire

My grandfather was with HQ 58th Air Service Group (5th AF). He was a passenger aboard the B-17E, "Queenie", when the plane was lost over Papua, New Guinea on 08 July 1944.

I would love to hear from anyone who was with HQ 58th Service Group, or any family of service members from this group. I have never seen a photograph of my grandfather. Hopefully, there are some old pics of the 58th floating around our there.

Thank you... and what a wonderful website!

I just met Bob Richardson when he came in to get an airport ID here, what an amazing man and I was truly honored to meet him, He gave me his card with this website to look at. First I want to thank you all for your service, my father flew in the belly of a b17 over Normandy and he never talked about it until one day, we had one come to the Airport and I was able to wheel him out on the ramp to the plane, then he talked and told some amazing stories. It was the best day ever for both of us to be able to share that. God Bless you all, you are truly heroes. And a thank you again to Mr. Richardson for showing me this

Fascinating website - thanks for all of the information. I am researching my husband's Grandfather - Murray E Dugger who was with the 43rd Bomb Group 403rd Squadron. Has anyone any information as to his role, any photographs, absolutely anything. We unfortunately didn't get to meet Murray but are really interested in finding information about his life.

I found this site after going through my dad's war materials 20 years after he passed away. My dad, Edward (Eppy) Schutzman had a newsletter written by Arthur Veysey about Ken's Men. At the top of the newsletter its says"Eppy Schutzman 13037507 Hq., 43rd Bomb Group (H) A.P.O. 920"

I have photos of guys but no names attached to them. I also have some photos of B17's. I did find my fathers name as someone the group was looking for in an article "Where Are They?". If this rings a bell let me know. Great Site. Thank you for all your hard work.

While researching men who served with the 7th Bomb Group of the CBI, I have acquired a copy of Travel Orders, dated 20-October-45, which relieved several officers and enlisted men from the India-Burma Theater and sent them to the ZI.
Among the names are many who I've found are not part of the 7th Bomb Group, but belonged to other Groups that served in the CBI.

I recently (2/12/14) spoke with PFC Herman J. Hipps, who told me he served with the 43rd Bomb Squadron. This leads me to believe that there may be others who served similarly.

Anyone wishing to collect a copy of the Travel Orders may contact me at my email address.

My father, Captain William A. Bauder, was with the 64th Bombadier Squadron flying B24s out of New Guinea and, I believe, out of the Philippines. He participated in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. I would love to get a 64th Sq unit patch. We have his 5th army air corps patch. For those of you who may have know him, he died in 1986 leaving his wife, Helen, and five grown children plus a number of grandchildren. We miss him.

My Dad was George J Gangler, Flight engineer top turret gunner B-24 Kensmen and is in the picture with Bob Hope on Owi just before they bombed Peleliu. I have his log book and 2 years ago retraced some of his flights over Palau and Corregidor. He was shot through the legs over Hong Kong harbor in 1944 and was awarded the distinguished flying cross for getting his plane back to clark field. I am b=very proud of his service.
